rough first draft, the wet spots are clear glue to help the tatting keep shape.P4270033.jpg

OOOO I have some "blending braid" that's normally used for embroidery that would tat up in that pattern so nicely; all earth and water colors, but metallic. Darn you for inspiring me when I have not time to experiment *laugh*

    I like it!

It is a bit similar to what I did here, but with "pointy-er" joins. I like it!

thank you. it was actually really fun to tat. i did the star then i pinned it to a box. then i started tatting the outer chain. i got two points done before i figured it would be a nicer circle if i pinned the circle (like a guide) and tatted around. it was very awkward but i can see a realm of possibilities with this technique. especially using stiffners and glues...

How did you do the double twist?

Look for instructions for "balanced double stitch" I think it is the same thing. Here is Karen's video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rv6YFXRU-Xk

Here is a thorough explanation by Ruth Perry: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...QU-9NbxOnObbSQ

Edited to add: I am a shuttle tatter, and these links are for the shuttle. Totus Mel probably did it with her needle!
