    Default Thread Heaven

After paying insane amounts ($6+ for that tiny cube almost made me think twice about buying it because I could get a shuttle and ball of Lizbeth instead) for those tiny blue cubes, I was elated to see Thread Heaven in a recent Atlanta Thread & Supply / WAWAK Sewing Supply catalog:

    http://www.wawak.com/products/product.cfm?pID=4465

    http://www.wawak.com/atlantathread/

Buying up to 3 it's only $2.49 a cube, but if you buy 4 or more, it's $2.19. Granted, that's a lot of TH, but at that price I'm considering ordering a couple because I keep losing mine.

They do last a long time (if you don't lose them). But I wouldn't mind having multiple ones around. One for my embroidery, one for my handsewing, one for my tatting. I chase mine around a lot.

I just found it here at Hobby Lobby (in the beading section) and am so pleased with how much easier it makes tatting go!

Instructions are on the package. You just press the thread into the cube with your thumb and draw the thread through.

Query: I've been using my TH for black embroidery floss, (there's a LOT of black in the Xstitch I'm doing) and the TH is getting noticeably darker. Will the color transfer to other threads?

The darker is fuzz from the thread. Yes it can come off on other colors. What I do is use dark colors on only one side of the Thread Heaven. You can gently pry it out and turn it over and have a new clean side facing and then when you want to go back to black flip it over again. The first time is the hardest after that it flips pretty easily. Or you could get a second box and have it designated for darker colors. I just think flipping it is easier and don't want to hunt for the 'dark box' each time I use a dark color. I have six boxes in different places. You can read all about Thread Heaven and its uses here. After you enter make sure to click on the button for Company Info to read about how Thread Heaven came into being. I thought it was fascinating. I sent them a tip abput using it with tatting and how it makes the rings easier to open to correct a mistake but they haven't added it yet. And for those that have online shops or Etsy they can order it wholesale.

Wondering here if anyone has tried it on the threads with a metalic strand running through them? The ones we have so much breakage problems with when closing the rings? Would it help prevent that metalic strand from breaking?

I used it with metallics doing cross stitch and hardanger and it works wonders. Check out the site linked above and you will be amazed at the many uses for this little box of stuff, what it can do compared to others like bees wax and parrafin and such. I know I sound like an ad but it really is great stuff!
