See here, somebody has already compared the sizes.
I didn't just compare plastic but all my shuttles. It was interesting that our pictures of the plastic were so similar. Thanks for sharing that link as well.

Gahorsley-I like the teak as well

Oh Rachel, This is fantastic. I am envious of your collection, and now feel I don't have 'too many' shuttles (I wonder if Wonderful Husband will agree LOL) I love the prym shuttles (I also found them at Emsyjane), I now have 5 of them LOL. Next on my list, (once I get some more paid work) are the thumb shuttles.
I love your PDF on this and think you are very very clever to have made your own wooden shuttles too. Thanks so much for doing this and sharing it too.

I Just had a look too Irene, but it doesn't seem as detailed as Rachel's....I like that Rachel has compared almost every type of shuttle on the general market. Ahh, so many shuttles to play with!

I am home recovering from my trip. Give me a day or so to get them out again and measure them for you.

Thank you for putting this comparison together. I just spent my lunch hour reading thru it and I sent myself a reminder to check it out later.
To someone who is new to tatting I find it very fascinating.

I read your info too Rachel, it was very helpful. The link I provided, helped me in making a decision about whether or not to buy another pair of shuttles! And I'm a visual person, I needed to see them side by side.

Got them out and measured today for you.
The vintage gersilver shuttle is 2 & 15/16 inches by 3/4 inch
The newer one tron Lacks is 3 & 3/4 inches by 15/16 inch
They seem he same height between my fingers but that measurement didn't make it to my paper.

Did you know, there are tatting shuttles even tinier than a Clover one? The smallest I've seen on google images, is 3cm long! I would imagine that's for the smallest thread size...

If you read through I have some that are less than an inch long, both purchased and made by me.
