Try, try, and try again...until the out come is presentable at least.....gc
Just reporting on my quest to increase the number of rings in this type of celtic. It has been a wild ride. I draw it up first and have separate drawings showing the addition of each ring and chain. Turns out that past 4, there has to be a ring or two that is made woven around the crossing chains that go through it. So I have backed down to the 4 ring design that you did and when I finish it, I will try 5 rings, which definitely needs one rings woven around the crossing chains.
the problem reminds me of doing Venn diagrams of set intersections... 2, circles, clear. 3, circles, easy, 4 circles.. manageable, 5, don't think I've ever seen a 2dimensios solution.
I have decided on a name!
"Fiddler's Dance Celtic Knot" - I think it has a nice sound to it, and I googled and no other tatting pattern showed up...
I just wrote up the tutorial. If anyone is interested in test tatting it, send me a private message with your e-mail so I can send you the .pdf file. Thanks a bunch!

Hi Janet!
Thanks for your new suggestions. I have already decided on a name - I will try to update the thread title. I revived it to ask for test tatters - are you interested in trying it? I would love the feedback from someone with not much celtic experience too. Of course, not pressure, just if you feel like the challenge!

I would be honored to test it.....either needle or shuttle which ever you prefer.
If you don't know where you are going any road will get you there.
Hi Soyloquesoy,
I'd love to test-tat it too if you still need people!
Hey how cool to get so many offers!
Let's see, I am going to make this simple: here is the pdf to test tatt. I will remove it when the test tatt is over.
Let me know if you find any mistakes, or if you have any doubts while making it, so I can improve it. Also any language awkwardness or un-clarity (InTtatters is international and I'd love for it to be clear for English as a second language speakers - plus English is not my everyday language either). In short, anything you feel I need to know
I had only written it for shuttle tatting, so if anyone wants to needle tatt it (which is probably a good idea!), please be patient and tell me how you would explain it to a needle tatter...
Thanks a bunch everyone!
Edited to add: One more thing: refer to my blog post here: http://creativasuculencia.wordpress....azados-celtas/
for the weaving the ring thread before tatting the ring part. I should probably add that link to the tutorial, now that I think of it... This test tatting is proving useful already!
