Whoee.. off and tatting..
Whoee.. off and tatting..
Here is my design at this stage. Not completely happy with it yet.
yes u can 2.jpg
yes.jpgi am doing SCMR and chains for the first row, then the second is going to be loop tatted rings with beads and split rings, the third is going to be the chains connecting the motifs. the fourth is going to be the motifs coupled with sets of two rings. then to finish each spike is going to be done individually... a lot of cutting and tying.

I think I have no time for this doily now, but I'll put my image here too - maybe somebody will be inspired.
1. row: split rings and chains with rings
2. row: chains, mock rings and rings (there can be rings instead of mock rings and rings can be tatted in the third row, but I think this version would be nicer
3. row: maybe flowers must be tatted separatelly, but I would try tat it in the one pass
4. row: last row I would tat with 4 shuttles - somebody from intatters used it for one of Jan Stawasz doilies and I love this idea.. and I think 18 motifs in one row it great opportunity for trying it ;-))
Hmm, 4 rows.. it seems to be simple doily ;-))

what do you use to make the diagram. I guess I am old fashion and use paper and pencil; trial and error!!
diagram is made with inkscape - vector graphics editor. I am not good in drawing diagrams on computer, but my results with pencil are much more worse ;-)
ok. so i am stuck.
this is how far i am. http://www.flickr.com/photos/shannon...n/photostream/
i did the blue round first then the orange...that was SUPER fun. but i am stuck on the last round. i can seem to match the individual motifs to fit nicely. and i know its because the circles between the motifs are not as big in the photo. so frustrating. but i got pretty close for a 1st try :)

Fun! I haven't finished the last one yet, but this looks fun!
Here is what I've got done so far. For now, this has been a relative breeze to tat up. I'm using size 10, my thread of choice for designing as it's a bit easier to work with for retro-tatting. I have a few Anne Orr edgings in mind for some of the other parts of the doily.
Too much thread, so little time!
Looks great so far!
