Ok, photos of how I am doing the first two hankies I am making.
    edging sewn on crocheted round.jpg
One round of Single Crochet around hankie, then tatted edging is being SEWN on as I go now.

No crochet with this one...just joining the tatting to the hankie as I go....joining at the picots.

Both are looking lovely Carol! But curds and whey is specially nice - and you are getting all the dark inside and the light outside!

Nah, not all the way around...darn! It varies where it falls...just happens to be that way on this corner. I think Curds & Whey happens to be one of my most favorite single shuttle patterns. I don't even have to think about this pattern any more...lol

oh, pity! Variegation vs. repeat lengths are mostly lottery, really...

I feel that way about the Posy pattern - but I guess knowing an edging is more useful...?

Oh Carol, those are both lovely. I can see why you wanted to crochet around the first one. It really adds. Curds and Whey is on my list for a next one to make. It's a lovely pattern and someone made up a corner for us to use with it which I saved. I too, like the single shuttle patterns for hankies.

What size thread did you use with the Curds and Whey? And about how wide is the edging in the thread you used?

Hey, I goofed. Went back and corrected it. The largest ring should be 4+2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-4. Except for the sketch. In sketch change the ones to twos in the largest ring.

The corner for Curds & Whey was figured out by Rachael (xstitchntat) and I am doing both edgings in size 80. The first one is Lizbeth Rainbow Taffy and the pattern is Frivole's Iris Edging and is just over 1/2 wide, the Curds & Whey is vintage J&P Coats color #15 and is not quite 3/4" wide.
