    P. 41 of 'Learn to Tat' by Janette Baker. If you are doing the third round, be sure to look at my comments in my album before you finish the third round. You need to fudge the third round to make the fourth round fit!

Thanks everyone for the kind thoughts and encouragement. I still feel at times like I'm all thumbs, but I'm enjoying the challenge. Have a lot of trouble with consistent picot sizes, etc. I have a picot gauge, but hate the thought of having to use it for every picot, so just try to keep them the same by eye, sometimes not very successfully. But, it's fum to try.

@Linda - I'm not sure about designing, maybe someday. At the moment, I'm looking at some old patterns (ca. 1900) and trying my hand at converting one of them to more modern terminology. Then, I'll probably see if I can actually make it from my version. Could be interesting,

Bruce, I just had a thought. As you have found out (the hard way) editing in tatting patterns is sometimes inaccurate. It's always a good idea to read through a pattern a few times. Some folks even draw it out or rewrite it. If you have a diagram or a photo (hopefully both) compare each step with them. This can go a long way to catching those typos before you've tatted them!

You've done a great job with your doily! I think it's fantastic that you've progressed so far in six short weeks!

Hey Bruce.. That's fantastic work.. I love this pattern. I've done it several times and have given it away as gifts. Just a side note, This particular doily, I decided to enter into our local County Fair and it took Best of Show, Best of Division, and First Place.. So I know this pattern means a lot to me ;) WTG

Great work! I clearly need to go beyond small motifs and rings and chains!

Hint: This doily, except for the final round, is nothing but rings and chains. There are just more of them than in a small motif. The final round is a species of hen and chicks, which is all rings done with one shuttle and no ball thread.
