Thank you, Diane. When I start mine, I'll be sure to have extra thread on hand. Always try to do that anyway.

The directions were easy enough to follow, but the last round required severe blocking, not my favorite thing to do.

All in all, I am very pleased with the end result. Thank you for challenging me to try this one paperlace! Bruce, I'm looking forward to seeing your progress!
    Gorgeous Diane!!! Well done.

I'm still plugging along; finished the 3rd round last night (way too late): see attachment. More opera this weekend , so don't know how long it will take to get back to round 4, but I will get back to it. Still enjoying the challenge.

In looking at your image, I count 22 repeats of the pattern in the last round; in the picture in the Weiss book, I count 29 repeats. This is of course because of the changes you made in the early rounds, but I wonder if it might have contributed to the problems you had getting it to lie flat? Anyway, it's flat now, and looks great.

Oh, I must have missed something. Where are the directions from TerresaW? I'd like to compare them before I get to the last round. Cheers,

Bruce, if you pm TeresaW (post #33), she'll email you the PDF.

I'm sure you're correct about my early changes making a difference. I looked at the Weiss picture and blindly followed attaching at every other ring. I think I should have adjusted by joining at every ring on the curve. I think I was in too much of a hurry to complete the last round! I'm seriously considering ordering another ball of thread and re-tatting the last round. It's a shame to be dissatisfied with one round of tatting, even though the doily looks fine now that it's been blocked.

I really like the look of yours in black and pink. Maybe I'll make another in chocolate brown and pink for my granddaughter... her current favorite color combo. :-)

By the way, the last round took forever! I kept making mistakes in my stitch count, and I think I un-tatted as much as I tatted. I'm sure I'll do better next time!

Ooo, brown & pink, also very retro. Your granddaughter has class. The house I'm living in has a 1/2 bath w/ black and pink tile on the walls (very 1960's), so I'm thinking that might be a good location for my doily.

Reading about your exploits, I'm now not sure if I'm looking forward to the last round, or dreading it . At least it ought to be more interesting than round 4.

Ah, yes! The "interest" factor. But when you really get into it, there is always something to focus on, whether it is doing the same construction over and over again or keeping up with small changes that happen at unusual places.

Bruce, the good thing about the last round is that the errors were all mental on my part. Hmmm... mental... let's not go there. ; )
