Some options: Depends on how big that last true ring is. The standard method (putting in a magic thread or even two) will only work if its a ring of at least 8 ds. So break off after the larger ring, Tie the end of the new needle thread to the end of the old one at the base of the ring. and tuck those ends into the ring using the MThread. If its ALL mignionette..gasp.... Well, I don't do mignionette... What I usually do, really, is just leave the abandoned needle thread. The ring will not come loose, because its a true ring, so it only needs to be hidden. I leave a longish tail on the start of the next ring (another true ring), and continue on. When I have the round done, then I go back and make sure the spacing and length of bare thread is correct for the pattern and matches the other ones as I hide those ends.. Oh yes, I frequently forget to leave the bare thread as I skip to do the next ring in the sequence, so those long tails are pulled in to do the replacement work.
Hi Judy,
Thank you for getting back to me with an answer. I seemed to remember something about a luggage tag knot. Here is what I found:
http://www.georgiaseitz.com/classes/takedaends.jpg It is from Georgia at The Online Tatting Class. The old thread is not a problem, because it shouldn't pull loose once it is hidden. This method should keep the new thread from being pulled loose.
Thanks again,
Rosemarie
