    Default Storing Threads

I recently purchased some gorgeous thread through Etsy but am wondering how the experienced tatters store thread that is not wound in a ball. Do you wind it on to something, say an empty bobbin?

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    TIA
    regards, Liz

After I dye thread and when it's completely dry I wrap it around empty prescription bottles and toss them into a basket.

I wrap the hand dyeds on plastic bobbins that are used for embroidery floss, and keep them all on a large ring. One 50yd skein will fit nicely on each bobbin

I use DMC Stitch Bow Floss Holders. They are easy to use and store. There's even a place to put an information tag and they hold a lot of thread

I use the plastic DMC bobbins, too & then store them in a floss box with dividers.

My thread is all big balls, so I store it in a HUGE tote. (1 58 gallon for the size 20 and 30 thread and another 58 gallon for the size 10 thread...lol)

That is how I keep some of my hand-dyeds too, especially those that I receive as gifts and exchanges.

The flower and butterfly-shaped threadholders are made of plywood and are gifts from Laura (Tattycat).
